Donald Belliveau Obituary, Death – With a painful feeling in our hearts, we must break the news that Donald Joseph Belliveau will be leaving the firm effective immediately. Before coming to Amherst, where he passed away at the age of 91, he had spent a good portion of his life in Joggins, which is located in the province of Nova Scotia.
On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Don passed away unexpectedly in the White Birches Retirement Residence, where he had been a proud resident for the previous four years. He had been a resident there for the past four years. He had spent the preceding four years living there as a permanent resident. He was given the names James Belliveau and Marion (Melanson) Belliveau after his parents, who had passed away before he was born. Joggins was the location of his birth. Before he was born, both of his parents had already passed away, as had the woman he had been married to for the previous six decades, Freda (McClary).
In the early stages of his professional life, Don was employed at Enamel & Heating (Aircraft Division), but in later years of his life, he moved on to found a number of different businesses in a variety of industries. In spite of the fact that he made a living in the logging and trucking sectors and also owned and maintained the Joggins Irving garage, his primary passion was fishing for lobster and scallops on the Bay of Fundy. He also owned and maintained the Joggins Irving garage. In addition to that, he ran the Joggins Irving garage as the owner and operator of the business.
When he was 15 years old, he made his first purchase of a boat, and throughout the course of his life, he captained a number of different fishing vessels, beginning with the boat that he purchased when he was 15 years old. Don was the type of person who got a kick out of being near or on the water, and in his later years he relished the chance to get out on the lake and sail one of his own boats whenever the chance presented itself. Don relished the opportunity to spend his time away from the lake doing things he enjoyed, such as listening to traditional country music and dancing to it. This was one of his favorite things to do when he needed to kill some time.
Don will be greatly missed by his daughters, Jackie Cooke of Amherst and Patti Leighton (Rick) of Fredericton, New Brunswick; his grandchildren, Ryan Cooke (Victoria) of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, Kayla Leighton (Dan) of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and Taylor Leighton (Katlyn) of Fredericton, New Brunswick; and his great-grandchildren Emmett, Gracie, and Li The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the extraordinary members of the White Birches Retirement Residence team for providing their loved one with such a great and compassionate environment while they were there.
On Saturday, January 28, 2023, visitation will take place from 1 to 2 p.m., and will be immediately followed by a Funeral Liturgy of the Word, which will begin at 2 p.m. and be presided over by Father Gregory Agyeman. The Jones Family Funeral Centre, which is located at 70 Church Street in Amherst and can be reached at (902) 667-8777, is the organization that is responsible for taking care of the arrangements and supervising their execution. You have the opportunity to show your respect for Don’s memory by making a contribution to a charitable organization of your choosing, if that is something you would be interested in doing.
