Joanne Henshaw Obituary, Death – On Sunday, January 22, 2023, Joanne Henshaw, who had been a resident of 7977 State Route 36 in the past, passed away at the Vincent House in Wayland. She was the daughter of Gerald and Maude (Chase) Schofield and was born in Auburn, New York on December 23, 1938. Her parents’ names were Gerald and Maude (Chase). She had previously called a number of cities and towns around the state of New York home before making the move to Arkport, which occurred well over half a century ago.
During the twenty-four years that she spent working as a seamstress at the former Marion Rohr, the shop was also affectionately known as “The Panty Shanty.” She began her career in the garment industry in the mid-1960s. Both Joanne’s family and her friends will remember her for the time she spent with her family as well as her fascination with the world beyond her window, as well as her love of puzzle books and ice cream. Joanne will also be remembered for the time she spent with her family. She was predeceased in death by both of her parents, as well as by her husband, James Henshaw, two stepdaughters, Marsha Hemiel and Marilyn Applebee, and a sister, Carol Schofield. She also had a sister named Carol Schofield.
In addition to this, Carol Schofield, her stepdaughter, passed away. Her survivors include her Daughter, Lynn Lantz (Greg Alverson), of Arkport; her four Step-Sons, James (Bonnie) Henshaw of Hornell, William Henshaw of Clay, NY, Stephen Henshaw of Arkport and Louis Henshaw; her Step-Daughter, Janice Czimback of Elmira; her two Sisters, Vera Munn of Florida and Sandra Smith of Brockport; and her Granddaughter, Kayla Lantz of Ark On Friday (January 27, 2023), the family will be present to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, which is situated at 354 Canisteo Street. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. After the completion of the viewing and calling hours, funeral services will take place. Robert McCormick, who holds the position of Deacon, will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies. Following the conclusion of the service, the burial will take place in the Heritage Hill Cemetery in Arkport.
